Magazines Make Us Copycats

Ah, magazines!
These bibles of beauty, encyclopedias of chic,
manuals of cool, that whisper in our ears:

“Dress like Kylie, walk like Gigi, smile like Kendall,
breathe like Dua — Lipa, of course!”

If you can't manage it, don't panic: There's always a tutorial for that.

“Be unique, just like everyone else!”
But let’s keep it a secret, not spoil the fun with these outdated truths.

The Mantra? "Dare! If they did it, so can you."

In a world where identity is a perpetually shifting kaleidoscope,
these magazines offer an illusion of salvation:

Follow the guide, imitate them,
and you’ll find your place!

Fashion Olympians, elevated to unquestionable role models
– their style, beauty routines…

Every wardrobe detail is watched, dissected,
and eventually cloned by millions of followers.

"4 styles to copy from Kaia, Olivia, Emma, and Lily" Isn't this an invitation to erase our identity and don another's?

The magazines, accomplices in this masquerade,
orchestrate this waltz of imitators — perhaps signaling
their own relevance’s demise.

Ironically, in an Era where Authenticity reigns…

The ceaseless invocation of these bankable names
– Kendall, Kylie, Bella, Gigi, Dua & co. – is just a cunning SEO trick,
a desperate maneuver to hoist these declining magazines into the upper echelons of Google rankings.

Who would have thought celebrity names would become magic spells to reverse the fortunes of a dwindling print media world?

Pollution en Vogue: Fast Fashion Takes the Spotlight

In urging us to emulate celebrities,
fashion magazines perpetuate a vicious cycle of conformity.
This conformity, far from benign, lays the groundwork for mass consumption.

Given that only 7.1% of the French population is considered
“wealthy” according to the Observatoire des Inégalités (2022),
it’s an understatement to say that the brands featured in these magazines
are beyond the reach of most.

Isn’t it exaggerated to think that this push towards conformity drives us into the arms of brands like SHEIN or Boohoo ?

Leading players in ultra-fast fashion, with a business model
as subtly scandalous in its ethical breaches as a bull in a china shop!

Each impulsive buy, each blind imitation,
is another blow struck in the garden of a planet already deeply marred.

Isn’t it ironic: We adorn ourselves in the latest trends to stand out,
while simultaneously participating in the degradation of the very place where we pose.

Individuality in magazines? It's a vintage concept, almost as out-of-date as the low-rise jeans of the early 2000s.
Oh, wait, I hear they're making a comeback...
